Data from product testing undertaken by Consumer Reports undercuts Ford Motor Co.’s argument that the spark plugs In its engines did not fail at a higher rate than in other vehicles, plaintiffs said in a recent court filing.

According to the plaintiffs, Ford relied on a report prepared by David Harless and George Hoffer in moving for summary judgment. Those defense experts relied upon Consumer Reports data to answer in the negative whether the overall record of reliability of engines in some Ford vehicles was lower than other vehicles.
