A 20-year-old student at The University of Michigan-Dearborn has filed a class action against the university’s Board of Regents, claiming he was wrongfully denied in-state tuition because of his family’s international ties.

The suit alleges plaintiff Hussein Berry has been discriminated against due to “his immigration to the United States and his family’s ties outside of the state, despite being a resident and domiciliary of Michigan.”
