Lawyers for the U.S. Department of Justice and Native American farmers and ranchers involved in the $760 million settlement of discrimination charges against the U.S. Department of Agriculture have told a federal judge that they have reached tentative agreement on how to dispose of $380 million in undistributed settlement funds.

In a joint status report filed May 7 with U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan and Magistrate Judge Alan Kay, the lawyers in Keepseagle v. Vilsack outlined their proposed distribution of the so-called cy pres funds.
