A security breach at a Pennsylvania hospital system has exposed the personal information of about 27,000 employees—and has spurred a proposed class action that seeks 25 years of credit record monitoring and identity-theft protection for the victims.

Already, at least 788 of those employees have fallen prey to tax-return fraud, according to the suit filed on May 9 on behalf of dialysis technician Alice Patrick against the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and The Ultimate Software Group Inc., in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
