The Senate plans to vote this week on the judicial nomination of David Barron, a former U.S. Department of Justice lawyer who faces opposition over his work in the Office of Legal Counsel.

A procedural vote, known as cloture, is set for Wednesday afternoon on Barron’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. If a majority of senators vote for cloture, Barron’s nomination will advance to a full confirmation vote Thursday.
