Accera Inc., a company that makes a product labeled as “medical food” for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, has been sued in a class action in Florida that alleges Axona is a milkshake powder of common food ingredients with no proven benefits.

Plaintiffs Max and Sandra Goldfarb of Miami filed the suit against the Colorado-based healthcare firm in Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County on May 27, claiming Accera’s marketing of key brand Axona violates Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA). Read the complaint here in Goldfarb et al. v. Accera Inc.
