Two patients of a Missouri medical facility have lodged a proposed class action against the provider that allegedly threw detailed medical records into a dumpster, where they were carried by the wind as far as a mile away.
In a June 4 filing in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mo., Brittany Shorts and Katherine Curry allege that Midwest Women’s Healthcare Specialists in Kansas City, Mo., illegally dumped the records of “hundreds, or more, patients” into a dumpster at nearby Medical Research Center on May 19.
