An advisory panel to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recommending that one interim ban on a chemical plasticizer that allegedly disrupts the human endocrine system be made permanent. But the panel recommends two other interim bans on other phthalates be lifted.
Diisononyl phthalate (DINP), diisodecyl phthalate, and di-n-octyl phthalate are subject to an interim ban on being used at greater than 0.1 percent of children’s toys or other children’s articles.
