Pittsburgh-area customers with mobility limitations are taking to task Starbucks Corp., CVS Caremark Corp., Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers and several shopping malls in proposed class actions for allegedly violating Americans with Disability Act rules by not providing parking areas accessible to those in wheelchairs.

In July 21 and July 22 filings, plaintiff and wheelchair user Sarah Heinzl alleges that 11 Starbucks locations and 11 CVS stores in western Pennsylvania abut parking areas with slopes and ramps steeper than Title III of the ADA allows, along with inadequate or absent spaces providing maneuvering room next to vehicles for setting up wheelchairs.
