Two hours after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on contraception coverage under the Affordable Care Act, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray announced legislation to undo the decision and “protect women’s access to health care.”
The Democrat from Washington state introduced her bill at two press conferences on Capitol Hill on July 9 and 10 and quickly moved it to the floor with the help of party leadership. The push failed a week later. Republicans stopped it with a filibuster.
