Eight class actions over the quality of coffee used in a generic version of Keurig coffeemaker pods are still brewing after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that a district court judge was too hasty in denying class certification.

Chief Judge Diane Wood, writing for the appeals court, said Sturm Foods, Inc. and its parent company Treehouse Foods, Inc. wanted to move into the market for individual coffee pods that are compatible with Keurig coffee machines two years before the patent protection for Keurig’s K-Cup pods expired.
