The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday named its first-ever ombudsman, Tracey McNeil, a former Hunton & Williams lawyer who is a senior counsel in the SEC’s Office of Minority and Women Inclusion.
McNeil, who will begin her new post on Sept. 22, is tasked with helping retail investors resolve problems with the SEC or self-regulatory organizations as well as establishing safeguards to maintain the confidentiality of communications with investors. The position was created by the Dodd-Frank Act.
