The American Psychological Association will still have to reckon with its past after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled in favor of two class actions involving a fee it charged to its members.

Judge Sri Srinivasan, writing for a three-judge panel, wrote that dues statements sent to the 100,000 members instructed them that they had to pay the special assessment to support the lobbying affiliate American Psychological Association Practice Organization, a lobbying affiliate.
