Several pharmaceutical companies are seeking to block USA Today’s Freedom of Information Act request for documents the drugmakers produced during the city of Chicago’s investigation into opioid painkillers.

USA Today has renewed its objection to the protective orders sought by Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Cephalon Inc., and the newspaper is seeking to intervene in the lawsuit Chicago ultimately filed against several opioid drugmakers.
