A proposed class action against a Florida hospital owned by HCA Holdings, Inc., has expanded to add another pair of medical facilities, each of which, the plaintiffs allege, are gouging emergency room patients.

Former patient Marisella Herrera and three other named plaintiffs now allege that three Florida hospitals have engaged in violations of the state’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act by imposing charges up to 65 percent higher than some customary fees for patients who carry Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance and who undergo emergency radiological procedures after vehicle-related accidents.
