Stayed: Kansas is fighting in the U.S. Supreme Court to block same-sex marriages pending appeal, The National Law Journal’s Marcia Coyle reports. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who issued a temporary stay late Monday, called for a response from the challengers of the state ban. The New York Times has this report on other same-sex marriage litigation: “After Court Loss, Opponents of Same-Sex Marriage Challenge Selection of Judges.” Idaho, meanwhile, is pressing its same-sex marriage fight in the Ninth Circuit.

Divorced: “After a secretive, nine-week trial, a judge in Oklahoma City has ruled that the 68-year-old [Harold] Hamm must pay nearly $1 billion to his ex-wife, Sue Ann Hamm. With the bang of a gavel, Ms. Hamm has joined the ranks of the wealthiest women in the United States,” The New York Times reports.
