No one’s talking about Steve McBee’s lobbyist colleagues, and few in the profession say they’ve heard more than rumors. Still, a bit of gossip revved up the job market at Washington public policy practices this week.

Steve McBee is leaving the $10 million lobby shop he founded and governed, The Washington Post reported last week. Politico Influence reported Tuesday that Wiley Rein might acquire what’s left of McBee Strategic. The report said Washington-based Wiley Rein “was among the few firms that have been approached” to buy McBee Strategic and that the law firm has collaborated with McBee on projects for several months.
