The impending rise of Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, to the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee, may bring new momentum to the long-running campaign to broadcast U.S. Supreme Court proceedings.
For more than a decade, Grassley has been an ardent advocate of cameras, repeatedly introducing legislation to require them. “I’ve been working to give America a front-row seat to Supreme Court cases, as well as the proceedings in the nation’s federal courts,” Grassley said in a 2012 interview.
