The administrator of a fund set up to compensate victims for injuries or deaths associated with General Motors Co.’s ignition-switch defect has extended the Dec. 31 deadline to submit a claim.
Attorney Kenneth Feinberg began accepting claims on Aug. 1 after GM recalled 2.6 million cars and trucks worldwide due to the defect, which can disable airbags and power steering. On Monday, he announced that the fund’s new deadline was Jan. 31.
