The wireless signals used by ADT Corporation to secure homes and businesses are unencrypted and can easily be intercepted, a proposed class action alleges.

Illinois plaintiff and ADT customer Dale Baker alleges it is “easy” to hack into wireless home security systems and disable or suppress them, causing the systems to activate an alarm where no breach has occurred. Baker, who brought the suit on Nov. 9 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleges his home-security system signals have been hacked twice, causing ADT to contact him and the police to respond.
