Squire Patton Boggs will earn $600,000 from a settlement with a former client whom the firm said hadn’t paid for legal work.

Distributive Networks LLC and Kevin Bertram, its former CEO, owed Patton Boggs $728,950 for five years of work ending in 2013, according to a complaint filed in District of Columbia Superior Court last year. The complaint was among a handful of civil suits Patton Boggs brought against clients for unpaid collections during a period of financial turmoil that preceded its merger with Squire Sanders in June.

Under the settlement agreement, the company could pay back the law firm by wire transfer in a lump-sum payment or through installment payments until 2018. The firm will also earn interest now on the amount at a rate of 12 percent per year.
