Expedia Inc.’s legal department has struck the right combination of in-house expertise and outside talent to help make the Internet travel company a top competitor in a fast-paced industry.
General counsel Bob Dzielak, who became acting general counsel in 2011 and took the top slot in 2012, set the department on a new course. At the time, Bellevue, Wash.-based Expedia simply didn’t have enough in-house lawyers, he said.
