G. Michael Harvey, a longtime prosecutor in Washington, was sworn in earlier this month as a federal magistrate judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, court officials announced on Friday.
Harvey replaces John Facciola, who retired as a judge at the end of 2014 after nearly two decades on the bench. The National Law Journal reported in January that Harvey was in line to fill Facciola’s seat and was completing the final stages of the appointment process at the time.
