DSM North America is a division of Koninklijke DSM N.V., a Dutch firm that North America president and general counsel Hugh Welsh calls “the biggest company you’ve never heard of.”

DSM makes ingredients for products including baby formula, vitamins, animal feed and nutritional supplements, along with resins for paints, fibers for medical devices and protective gear, and fiber-optic coatings for 3-D printing. The North American arm accounts for $3.6 billion of the company’s total $12 billion in annual revenue.
