The last time Richard Parker and Stephen Weissman fought a merger in court, they were allies. Together, they were part of a team that handed the Federal Trade Commission its biggest loss in years, successfully opposing the agency’s bid to block the union of Arch Coal Inc. and Triton Coal Co. in 2004.
On May 5, they will meet again in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia — but this time, they’re on opposite sides.
