The key to encouraging pro bono is having support from your company to give volunteer work equal footing to everyday legal affairs, said Evan Farber, general counsel to the consulting and research firm The Advisory Board Co.

“We have a culture of community service here that’s hard-wired,” Farber said. “I’ve encouraged my team members to find something they’re passionate about and where they can have the greatest amount of impact.”
