Plaintiffs lawyers suing hip-implant manufacturer Zimmer Holdings Inc. hope the third time’s the charm as they prepare for another trial next week.
Zimmer, which makes the Durom Cup hip implant, has won two jury verdicts in the past eight months—one in Illinois state court and one in federal court in New Jersey, where about 400 cases are pending in multidistrict litigation. On Tuesday, a third trial starts in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of a California man who had the Durom Cup implanted in 2007 but removed 15 months later.
