Vikram David Amar, an associate dean of the University of California, Davis School of Law, is poised to become the next dean of the University of Illinois College of Law.

Administrators announced the appointment this week, saying he would take over at Champaign, Illinois, law school on Aug. 16, contingent on approval on July 15 by the university’s board of trustees.
