CNL Financial Group Inc., based in Orlando, is a private investment management firm specializing in real estate. Chief legal officer Holly Greer said the firm had more than $8 billion in assets under management at the end of 2014. James Seneff Jr. started the company in 1973 with a $5,000 loan from his father. Since then, CNL or its affiliates have formed or acquired companies worth more than $33 billion.
It oversees four real estate investment trusts; CNL Lifestyle Properties, which owns ski resorts; and CNL Healthcare Properties, which owns real estate for medical facilities. The company has 330 employees.
