Wacker Chemical Corp. is the U.S. subsidiary of Wacker Chemie A.G. of Munich, which reported 2014 sales of €4.8 billion. It has 16,700 employees around the world; U.S. headquarters is in Michigan. The company is building a $2.4 billion, 560-acre plant to manufacture “hyperpure” polysilicon in Charleston, Tennessee, 30 miles from Chattanooga. LEGAL TEAM
Vice president for legal Brian Eftink became Wacker’s sole U.S. attorney five years ago, working from an office in Charleston. He’s since added two staff lawyers, a full-time contract lawyer, two paralegals and two administrative assistants. One lawyer handles transactions including sales and purchase agreements for Wacker’s U.S. operations, and the other oversees litigation and labor and employment matters. Eftink said he spends one day each week in Chattanooga, working in the offices of Miller & Martin and consulting with attorneys there.
