The Federal Communications Commission in July released an order strengthening the federal law governing telemarketing. Instead of clarifying the law for consumers and honest businesses, or providing relief from opportunistic class action lawyers, the FCC triggered what will be an avalanche of lawsuits.
This result is the opposite of what Congress intended. Nonetheless, businesses of all sizes will have to prepare for the onslaught.
