Throughout his time in office, President Barack Obama has prioritized efforts to promote alternative energy and reduce carbon emissions. In early August, he announced his latest environmental initiative, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations requiring significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions during the next 15 years.

The final version of the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, which has spurred vociferous objections from some states and business groups, could mean big changes for several industries. In-house counsel should make themselves aware of the potential benefits and pitfalls.
