“The SEC or any other government agency should not be able to treat emails any differently than postal mail or files stored in a desk drawer. Americans’ Constitutional rights should apply to the online world, just as they do to the offline world,” said the pro-reform coalition Digital 4th, made up of the American Civil Liberties Union, Americans for Tax Reform, Center for Democracy & Technology and Heritage Action for America. “The Email Privacy Act is the top co-sponsored bill in Congress. It’s time for chairman Goodlatte to move this bill to a mark up. With more than 300 cosponsors, it deserves a vote.”
