A rare alliance between both houses of Congress and the Obama administration is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to clear the path for American victims of Iranian-backed terrorism to recover damages from Iran’s central bank.

Friend-of-the-court briefs by the House of Representatives and the Senate are expected to join a brief from U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli Jr. this week in the case Bank Markazi, the Central Bank of Iran v. Peterson, set for argument on Jan. 13.
