Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Wednesday defended President Barack Obama’s recent executive actions on gun control before a Senate subcommittee that appeared more interested in finding ways to work with the administration than debating the Second Amendment’s scope.
For nearly an hour and a half, Lynch fielded questions from members of the Senate Appropriations Committee overseeing the Department of Justice on details of the President’s actions broadening background checks and expanding the reach of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The more ideological commentary came at the hearing’s start.
