Firm leaders at Dickstein Shapiro did not respond to a request for comment regarding Van Gelder’s departure. The fate of the firm this year has become unclear after more than a half-dozen partners have left for other law firms since Jan. 1.
On Friday, Bloomberg BNA’s Big Law Business website added to the speculation, reporting on a possible merger with Blank Rome of Philadelphia. The news report said the talks were in an advanced stage, and that a group of Dickstein Shapiro lawyers in Connecticut might not be part of the deal.
