McDonald’s has been selling mozzarella sticks since the summer of 2015 and advertising them as made with “100% real cheese.” But a California man begs to differ. Chris Howe is suing McDonald’s Corp. in a proposed class action, claiming the sticks are actually made with starch. The suit alleges that the fast food giant was able to save money and increase profits “by limiting its reliance on actual dairy products necessary to make mozzarella, contrary to what the law requires for products labeled as ‘mozzarella.’ ” The Desert Sun reports that McDonald’s intends to fight the allegations. — Richard Binder

Ink-Fringement

In the popular basketball video game “NBA 2K16,” LeBron James is seen with the words “Hold My Own” tattooed on his left bicep, and Kobe Bryant has a crown with butterflies on his right bicep. Solid Oak Sketches says it owns the rights to those tattoo designs, as well as six others represented in the game. The company is suing Take-Two Interactive Software for infringement. According to ESPN, exhibits submitted in the lawsuit show that Solid Oak had attempted to negotiate a licensing arrangement unsuccessfully with Take-Two for the tattoos. A $1.1 million offer was made to the game makers for that license. CNBC reports that the suit seeks a halt to the infringements, as well as damages of up to $150,000 per infringement. A spokesman for Take-Two declined to comment. — Richard Binder
