A Los Angeles Superior Court judge who was killed on Feb. 15 while crossing a street had a long career in Washington, most recently as a partner at Hogan Lovells.

Daniel Brenner, whose death was confirmed by court officials, was hit by a car in West Los Angeles. Police said no crime was involved. Brenner, 64, served in the Chatsworth, California, courthouse, which is not near the scene of the accident. Prior to his judicial appointment in 2012, Brenner worked in the Washington office of Hogan Lovells for two years. Before that, he was chief legal and regulatory lawyer for 17 years at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, a trade group.
