The potluck is a long-held tradition in this country, a seemingly harmless affair where folks bring food from home to share at a social gathering.

In Arizona, however, a potluck is only legal in the workplace. Anyone attempting to throw a potluck outside that protected area runs the risk of a fine or even being arrested. And in Apache Junction, rebellion is brewing. Roger Farris, a resident at Golden Acres Mobile Home Park, told KPHO News that he regularly breaks that law. “I’ve never lost one person in here on a potluck,” he said. A resident of another mobile home park did blow the whistle on a similar gathering, causing health officials to come in and shut it down.
