Anne Yearwood was already in New York City for a judicial internship the summer after her first year at the University of Michigan Law School, so networking with attorneys at firms where she might want to practice seemed like a smart move.
Yearwood, now a third-year student, accepted invitations for coffee with lawyers and visited three firms for what she thought were casual meet-and-greets. But the firms had other ideas.
