The Republican candidates and the Republican Senate leadership claim that the choice to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court created by the death of Antonin Scalia (my law school classmate) must be left to the next president to be elected in November.
But if Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders wins and appoints the successor to Scalia, what would be the result? (Assuming, of course, that the Senate would confirm any candidate.)
