Mayer Brown’s former chairman and a Blank Rome partner are among Dennis Hastert supporters who filed 41 letters made public as sentencing looms for the former speaker of the House embroiled in a sex-abuse scandal.
Tyrone Fahner, who served as chairman of Mayer Brown from 2001 to 2007, and Blank Rome partner Frederick Lowther each wrote letters on behalf of Hastert, 74, who is expected to be sentenced Wednesday. The letters, written to U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin, also include one from David Thompson, a principal at Blank Rome Government Relations LLC.
