Uber Technologies Inc. was hit with another class action on Monday alleging the ride-hailing firm’s text messages to potential drivers violate the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, a claim Uber has had some success defeating in previous cases.
The latest lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The company has faced a number of similar lawsuits in the Northern District of California and in other federal courts. In some cases, it has been able to convince judges that the messages it sends are not advertisements, but employment offers.
