When Ian Gershengorn steps into the position of acting solicitor general on June 25, he will tap a portfolio of experience in the complexities of agency regulation, from health care to telecommunications, from both sides of the courtroom and from district courts to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Gershengorn, the principal deputy solicitor general, will succeed Solicitor General Donald Verrilli Jr. The outgoing solicitor, like his successor, has been part of a cadre of Jenner & Block alums, including former associate attorney general Thomas Perrelli, who left private practice to join the Obama administration.
