Ropes & Gray took home more than $600,000 from a $2 million fee award for its role successfully challenging Tennessee’s same-sex marriage ban. The firm just announced how it’s spending its share of the single largest fee award in the federal same-sex marriage litigation.

Ropes & Gray is donating $100,000 to the National Center for Lesbian Rights, which also represented the plaintiffs in the Tennessee case. The rest of the money will fund the firm’s pro bono work.
