Mike Poterala is the vice president of legal affairs and general counsel for the University of Maryland, College Park, a public research university located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, a few miles from the border of Washington.
The university has about 27,000 undergraduate students and about 9,000 graduate students. It employs more than 10,000 people, and had an annual revenue of $1.86 billion for fiscal year 2015. The flagship institution for the University System of Maryland, the College Park campus is the state’s largest university.
