A St. Louis plaintiffs firm filed complaints Aug. 10 and 11 against schools including Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania on claims that the schools allegedly sponsored retirement plans that caused participants to pay excessive fees, according to news reports.

Filed in federal courts, the complaints follow similar suits filed Aug. 9 against New York University, Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Attorneys at Schlichter Bogard & Denton charged violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act by using multiple bookkeepers to drive up fees.
