Big Law partners joined the chorus of critics blasting FBI Director James Comey Jr. for his decision to alert Congress shortly before the election about the discovery of emails that might relate to the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Ninety-nine lawyers, all former federal prosecutors or Justice Department officials, including former Attorney General Eric Holder Jr., signed an “open letter” released by the Clinton campaign on Sunday expressing “concern” about Comey’s actions. Holder, a partner at Covington & Burling, also penned an op-ed on Monday in The Washington Post saying that Comey made a “mistake.”
