If he is elected president on Tuesday, Donald Trump will not only be preparing to become the nation’s chief executive, he would be defending dozens of lawsuits over his business affairs, most prominently and immediately a fraud trial set to begin Nov. 28 involving Trump University.

If it does take place, Trump’s election directly from a business background would be unprecedented. The matters on his legal plate would add one more level of singularity to the event.
