If Americans were conflicted about their choices in this year’s election, at least they could tell one candidate’s name from the other. In the Romanian village of Draguseni, however, things got a little out of hand during their mayoral race a few months ago.

In June, voters in Draguseni had three choices for mayor, all named Vasile Cepoi. Politico reported that the first name is common in Romania, and Cepoi is a popular family name in the region. One of the Cepois was the incumbent, running for a fourth term. There was some concern that voters would be choosing the wrong Cepoi. “I am young, I’m not going to be confused, but there will be problems with older people,” a local man told Romanian news channel Digi24.
